A morning open rehearsal at Symphony Hall in which conductor Joana Mallwitz leads violinist Joshua Bell and the Boston Symphony Orchestra through Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 — a cornerstone of the soloist's repertoire, written for Joseph Joachim — and Mahler's Symphony No. 1, the work that helped revitalize the genre by bringing Wagner's expressive scope into the concert hall. Boston Public Schools students and teachers can attend free with an advance reservation through BSO Group Sales, and general-admission tickets are also sold.
