Walter Smith III plays tenor saxophone with a warm, conversational tone in the line of Sonny Rollins and Joe Henderson. TWIO is his stripped-down trio setting, saxophone with bass and drums and no chordal instrument, which leaves the harmony to the ear. He has recorded and toured with Terence Blanchard, Christian McBride and Ambrose Akinmusire.
