Vapors of Morphine honors the progressive legacy of the 1990s Boston band Morphine, which pioneered "Low Rock"—the unusual but seductive lineup of baritone saxophone, two-string slide bass, and drums. After Morphine leader Mark Sandman passed away onstage in 1999, original members Dana Colley and Jeremy Lyons eventually formed Vapors of Morphine to continue that tradition, bringing the hypnotic low-end grooves and late-night jazz-blues atmosphere to new audiences.
