Tony Malaby is a Tucson-born, New York-based tenor and soprano saxophonist who has become one of the most distinctive voices in post-Coltrane modern jazz. A fixture in Charlie Haden's Liberation Music Orchestra, Paul Motian's Electric Bebop Band, and countless leader projects, his playing blends a muscular, weathered tone with restless harmonic curiosity.
