The Whimbrels are a New York-based noise rock quintet whose dense, rhythmic sound draws on the lineage of NYC art-punk. The band features guitarist Arad Evans (Glenn Branca Ensemble), Norman Westberg (Swans), and Luke Schwartz, alongside bassist/vocalist Matt Hunter (Savak) and drummer Steve DiBenedetto. Their self-titled debut album was released on Dromedary Records in 2025 and draws comparisons to the Velvet Underground and no-wave experimentalism.
