The Pentagram String Band’s next Boston-area show is November 11, 2026 at Deep Cuts.
Self-described satanic bluegrass from Kansas City, Missouri — banjo, fiddle and guitar played at the tempo and with the menace of thrash metal rather than the politeness of the bluegrass mainstream. Their songs work a gothic Americana seam of blood, scripture and damnation (the 2023 album Blood Blood Blood opens with "Blood on the Wall" and "Mother of Babylon"), and the live set lands somewhere between a string-band hoedown and a punk show. Recordings also appear under the name Johnny Lawhorn and the Pentagram String Band.
