The Nervous Eaters

The Nervous Eaters came out of Boston in the early 1970s and became a fixture of the Rat, the Kenmore Square basement where the city's punk scene took shape. Led by singer and guitarist Steve Cataldo, they wrote taut, sneering rock and roll that split the difference between the Stooges and sixties garage, and Loretta and Just Head are still local canon. A 1980 album for Elektra came and went, but the band never really stopped, and the songs have aged better than most of what was on the radio at the time.
