The Chats are an Australian punk rock band from the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, known for their raucous, no-nonsense approach to garage punk. They went viral in 2017 with "Smoko," a two-minute anthem about the sacred Australian smoke break, and have since become one of the country's biggest punk exports. Their scrappy, working-class humor and breakneck energy channel the spirit of the Ramones filtered through Australian larrikin culture.
