Taqbir

Taqbir is a Casablanca-based feminist hardcore punk band widely regarded as one of the most important and radical acts in the Middle East and North Africa music scene. Their name -- an Arabic word meaning God is great -- is reclaimed as a feminist battle cry. Playing raw, ferocious punk with lyrics addressing misogyny, religious hypocrisy, and political oppression, they've toured internationally despite operating in an environment hostile to their message. A Taqbir show is a genuinely rare and significant event.
