Tamar Braxton is an American R&B singer from Severn, Maryland, the youngest of the six Braxton siblings and a member of the family group The Braxtons before her sister Toni's solo career took off. She spent years singing background and holding down reality television on Braxton Family Values, then broke through on her own with the 2013 album Love and War, whose title track earned Grammy nominations. The voice is the draw, a big and agile instrument she uses for church-trained belting and conversational phrasing in the same verse.
