Straight Ahead formed in New York City in 1986 out of the ashes of NYC Mayhem, with Craig Setari on bass and Tommy Carroll moving from behind the kit to vocals. Their run was short - a demo and the Breakaway 7-inch - but the speed and directness of those recordings made them a touchstone of late-'80s New York hardcore, and members went on to Sick of It All, Agnostic Front and Youth of Today.
