Sheila Jordan (1928–2025) was a pioneering American jazz vocalist celebrated for her bebop-rooted scat singing and for pioneering the voice-and-bass duo format starting in the 1950s. Discovered by Charlie Parker's music in Detroit, she moved to New York, studied with Lennie Tristano, and became the first female vocalist signed to Blue Note Records with her debut LP 'Portrait of Sheila.' She was named an NEA Jazz Master in 2012. Because this listed show is dated after her August 2025 death, it is most likely a tribute program in her honor rather than a live performance by her.
