Roger McGuinn

Roger McGuinn is the founding member and driving creative force of The Byrds, whose chiming 12-string Rickenbacker guitar defined the sound of mid-1960s folk-rock on landmark records like Mr. Tambourine Man and Eight Miles High. After the Byrds dissolved in 1973 he pursued a solo career and became a prominent figure in the folk revival, and in his later years has championed traditional American folk and sea shanties through his long-running Folkden project, an online archive of roots songs he records and distributes freely.
