Rachel Barton Pine is a Chicago violinist with one of the widest repertoires in classical music, equally at home in Baroque ornamentation, Romantic showpieces, and heavy metal riffs. A prodigy who was soloing with the Chicago Symphony as a child, she has built a catalog of more than forty albums, including landmark projects on Black composers and on the unaccompanied Bach sonatas and partitas. She plays a 1742 Guarneri del Gesu, and her foundation puts instruments and mentorship in the hands of young string players.
