Midnight is a Cleveland, Ohio black/speed metal project founded in 2003 by Jamie Walters (performing as Athenar). Drawing on the sleaze, punk energy, and Satanic imagery of early Venom, Motörhead, and GBH, Midnight built an underground cult following with lo-fi recordings and increasingly ferocious live shows. Their 2011 debut Satanic Royalty is considered a landmark of the underground metal revival, and the band — now joined by drummer Count Zigar — has released multiple albums on Metal Blade Records.
