Melissa Ferrick is a Massachusetts songwriter who has been making records since the early 1990s, when she went out opening for Morrissey on the strength of nothing but an acoustic guitar and a voice that could fill a theater. Prolific and famously unvarnished on stage, she built a devoted following through relentless touring and a run of independently released albums, and now teaches songwriting in Boston.
