Liz Phair

Liz Phair (Elizabeth Clark Phair, born April 1967 in New Haven, Connecticut) is an American singer-songwriter and rock guitarist who emerged from Chicago's indie scene in the early 1990s. Her debut Exile in Guyville (1993) — a track-by-track response to the Rolling Stones' Exile on Main Street — is considered one of the most important indie rock albums of the decade. Known for confessional, sexually frank lyrics and raw guitar work, she shaped a generation of alternative rock artists and remains a vital live performer.
