Jonathan Hultén is a Swedish musician best known as guitarist for the Gothenburg gothic/death metal band Tribulation, who broke out on his own with a strikingly different solo project. His 2020 debut album, "Chants From Another Place," traded distortion for spare acoustic guitar and aching vocals, drawing on neofolk and Nordic balladry to conjure something closer to a fireside incantation than a metal record. He has since become a fixture on the darker end of the folk touring circuit, frequently supporting kindred spirit Chelsea Wolfe.
