Jeffrey Martin is a songwriter from Portland, Oregon, who taught high school English before turning to music full time, and it shows in the writing: spare, character-driven songs that read like short stories, usually delivered with nothing but a guitar and a low, weathered voice. One Go Around (2017) put him on the map in folk circles, and 2024's Thank God We Left the Garden, cut largely live to tape, sharpened the approach further. He tours often with his wife, the songwriter Anna Tivel.
