JB Cardineau is a Franco-American mandolin player, singer, and songwriter raised in the French Alps who relocated to the American West as a teenager and later moved to Boston. His "Nouveau-Traditional" style synthesizes spontaneous bluegrass picking with early mandolin innovations rooted in his grandmother's 200-year-old Breton instrument. He won the 2025 Freshgrass Award in mandolin and attended Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship, where he deepened his command of jazz, classical, and world music alongside his roots sensibility.
