JAZZ BRAZILLIAN-Gilson Schachnik Quartet’s next Boston-area show is September 2, 2026 at The Beehive.
Gilson Schachnik is a Sao Paulo-born pianist who chairs the Ear Training Department at Berklee College of Music, where he has taught since 2002. He toured Brazil with Rosa Maria and Patricia Marx before a 1990 scholarship brought him to Boston, and he has since performed with Peter Erskine, Harvey Mason, Claudio Roditi, Bill Pierce and Miguel Zenon. In 2010 he formed Mozik with Brazilian drummer Mauricio Zottarelli, blending Brazilian rhythms with early-fusion sounds; he also plays in the Boston Brazilian group Green Fish.
