Imani Winds’ next Boston-area show is November 15, 2026 at Tanglewood.
Imani Winds are a Grammy Award-winning wind quintet — flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and French horn — who have spent more than two decades expanding what a chamber ensemble can sound like by weaving jazz, Latin, and African diasporic influences into their classical foundation. Founded in 1997, the quintet includes composer-performers like Valerie Coleman and Monica Ellis whose original works have become part of the contemporary chamber repertoire, and their programs regularly range from Afro-Cuban rhythms and Stevie Wonder arrangements to works by Paquito D'Rivera and contemporary commissions.
