Horse Lords turn experimental tactics like polyrhythm, arcane tunings and modular synthesis into direct, muscular and surprisingly funky songs. The quartet uses just intonation, the tuning system favored by avant-garde composers La Monte Young and James Tenney. The result has the volume, energy and density of great rock music with a much wider range of reference points.
