Gov't Mule is an American Southern rock and jam band formed in 1994 by guitarist Warren Haynes and bassist Allen Woody, both then members of The Allman Brothers Band. Since Woody's passing in 2000, Haynes and drummer Matt Abts have continued the band with an ever-evolving lineup, building one of the most devoted followings on the jam band circuit through relentless touring and a deep catalog of blues-drenched improvisational rock.
