George W. Russell Jr. is a pianist, composer, and educator whose work fuses gospel and jazz, and who chairs the Harmony and Jazz Composition department at Berklee College of Music. A Pittsburgh native who began piano at seven, he performs everything from solo piano to a groove-oriented trio to larger soul-jazz ensembles.
