Boston-formed rock band Extreme blended funk, metal, and pop into a distinctive sound that broke through worldwide with the acoustic ballad "More Than Words" in 1991. Led by guitarist Nuno Bettencourt and vocalist Gary Cherone, the band built a devoted following through virtuosic musicianship and genre-defying albums like Pornograffitti and III Sides to Every Story.
