Cypress Hill is an American hip-hop group from South Gate, California, and the first Latino act to achieve platinum and multi-platinum albums in rap. Originally called DVX, the group renamed themselves after Mellow Man Ace's departure in 1988. Their self-titled debut album arrived in 1991, featuring the single 'Phuncky Feel One,' and established their signature blend of stoner humor, heavy bass, and B-Real's distinctive nasal delivery. They went on to release a string of influential albums through the 1990s, pioneering hip-hop's crossover into rock and metal audiences.
