Charles Haynes is a drummer, producer, and music director from East St. Louis who studied at Berklee College of Music. He has performed with jazz legends including Roy Hargrove, Nicholas Payton, and Samara Joy, and served as music director for pop and R&B acts including Queen Latifah, Lady Gaga, and Ed Sheeran. He leads Charles Haynes & The Tabernacle, whose sound draws from the African diaspora in search of fresh sounds in contemporary jazz and soul.
