Boma Bango

Boma Bango is a Lafayette, Louisiana-based ensemble that reimagines 1950s and 1960s Congolese rumba as if it emerged from the bayous of Southwest Louisiana. Founded by guitarist Daniel Coolik, the band blends Cuban-influenced Central African rhythms with Gulf Coast sensibility, writing original songs in Louisiana French in the spirit of artists like Franco Luambo Makiadi and Tabu Ley Rochereau. Their members collectively hold four Grammy nominations and more than 50 years of touring experience.
