Blue Heron is a Boston vocal ensemble that has spent more than two decades making the case for fifteenth- and sixteenth-century polyphony as living music. Directed by Scott Metcalfe, the group sings from original sources and has built its catalog around Franco-Flemish repertoire, the early Tudor music of the Peterhouse partbooks, and a complete Ockeghem songs project whose first volume won the 2018 Gramophone Award for Early Music. They perform mostly in Cambridge churches, where the acoustics do half the work.
