Black Uhuru is a Jamaican reggae group formed in Kingston in 1972. They became one of the most internationally successful reggae acts of the 1980s, winning the first-ever Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album for "Anthem" in 1985. Their militant, Sly and Robbie-produced sound -- harder and more dub-influenced than most of their contemporaries -- brought roots reggae into the post-punk era and influenced artists across genres.
