Bala-Bila is a cross-cultural percussion collaboration featuring Balla Kouyaté, a Malian NEA National Heritage Fellow and master of the balafon (a traditional West African xylophone), and Matchume Zango, a Mozambican timbila star and percussionist. Their program presents high-energy music celebrating the intersection of West and East African xylophone traditions, blending classical technique with contemporary vitality. Bala-Bila is presented by Vivo Performing Arts (formerly Celebrity Series of Boston).
