Albino Mbie is a guitarist, singer, composer, and sound engineer born in Maputo, Mozambique. He built his first guitar at 16 from salvaged materials and moved to Boston in 2009 to attend Berklee College of Music on a full-tuition scholarship, becoming one of the first Africans awarded the Berklee African Scholars Program grant. Now a Berklee professor, his music blends marrabenta, Afro-pop, and Mozambican jazz rhythms. His debut album Mozambican Dance was released in 2013.
